Faculty position in Nuclear Theory at Indiana University The Department of Physics at Indiana University, Bloomington (https://physics.indiana.edu), invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor to begin August 1" 2025.
We are looking for candidates in Theoretical Nuclear Physics, broadly defined, emphasizing research involving QCD and hadron spectroscopy. During pre-tenure the position will be partially supported by the ExoHad Topical Collaboration. We seek individuals committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. A Ph.D. in Physics is required at the time of appointment.
Our mission in the Department of Physics at Indiana University is to conduct outstanding research into the physical universe within a collegial and inclusive community while providing a world-class education to students from all backgrounds and increasing the public appreciation for science. The Nuclear Theory group (NT) at Indiana University has an active research program focusing on cold and hot QCD, nuclear astrophysics, and using QCD systems to search for physics beyond the Standard Model. Group members have strong ties to other local efforts, including high-energy theory and experimental neutrino, nuclear, and high-energy physics. The NT group is a part of the Indiana University Center for Exploration of Energy and Matter and the Joint Physics Analysis Center.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent potential to establish an outstanding independent research program focused on aspects of nuclear physics that broadens the group's efforts and must be committed to working with a diverse community of faculty and students.
Applicants should apply online at https://indiana.peopleadmin.com/postings/25595 including a cover letter, CV, statements on research and teaching, and arrange for three letters of reference to be submitted via the online application portal.
