For our Undulator Systems group we are looking for an
Undulator Scientist (m/f/d)
The position
The successful candidate shall push the performance of superconducting undulator (SCU) technology towards the needs of European XFEL users designing, and testing advanced superconducting undulator coils. In particular, the tasks include:
develop new winding schemes including applying high temperature superconductors in collaboration with mechanical engineers
magnetic simulations
coordination of the manufacturing of SCU advanced coils
quench simulations
participate in testing of the SCU coils
Requirements
PhD in physics and or electrical engineering
Proven knowledge in finite element simulations
Proven knowledge of systems integration
Proven knowledge of systems of scientific measurements electronics is an asset
Proven knowledge and experience in superconducting magnet design is an asset
Proven knowledge and experience in simulations using Python, MATLAB, Mathematica or similar tools is an asset
Experience in one of the following fields would be beneficial: cryogenics and superconducting magnets
Proactive work approach, excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multilingual, multidisciplinary team with English as working language. Knowledge of German is an asset
