Laser-Material Interactions - Postdoctoral Researcher
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Ph.D. Physics, Material Science, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Hands on experience in laser induced shock compression of metals.
- Experience with various laser (CW, ns, ps, and fs), especially high energy short pulse laser systems.
- Experience working in large laser user facilities.
- Knowledgeable of laser material interaction at short timescales.
- Knowledgeable of x-ray effects in materials.
- Ability to perform as an innovative experimentalist with a broad range of experience in experimental design, techniques, execution, and analysis, and the ability to think broadly and devise innovative solutions to problems to accomplish objectives..
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills necessary to deliver presentations and prepare written reports, explain technical information, and provide advice to management.
- Initiative and interpersonal skills including the ability to work both as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, as well as the ability to produce independent, original work.
Qualifications We Desire
- Experience in using class 4 lasers, optics layout, and engineering.
- Experience with hydrodynamic codes to support experimental efforts.
