Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Plasma Physics for Solar Physics
Columbia University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in solar physics, at the Columbia Astrophysics Laboratory (CAL). The successful candidate will join the group of Drs. Michael Hahn and Daniel Wolf Savin. Topics of interest include the properties of plasma waves in the transition region and corona, the physical processes that accelerate the solar wind from within coronal holes and at their boundaries, and other subjects broadly related to coronal heating and the acceleration of the solar wind. The successful candidate would have a background in data analysis, spectroscopy, Fourier methods, programming, image analysis (such as coronal hole detection), magnetic field extrapolation, and analysis of data from DKIST, IRIS, Hinode, or other observatories.
