Computational Fluid Dynamics Postdoctoral Fellow
The Department of Physics at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, in collaboration with the University of Connecticut and the Naval Research Laboratory, is seeking one Postdoctoral Fellow to lead a project studying type Ia supernovae, incorporating newly-developed first-principles turbulently-driven detonation initiation models into three-dimensional full-star hydrodynamical simulations. All applicants should have strong high-performance computational skills. Knowledge of nuclear astrophysics, and experience with hydrodynamical models, turbulence modeling, nuclear networks, and radiative transfer on high-performance computers is a plus. The position is funded by a NASA collaborative study led by Drs. Robert Fisher (University of Massachusetts Dartmouth - UMassD), Alexei Poludnenko
