The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Swarthmore College invites applications for two full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor positions in experimental physics, one two-year position and one one-year position with the possibility for renewal for one additional year, beginning with the Fall 2021 semester. The teaching load over two semesters is 2 courses and 3 lab sections (6-9 weekly contact hours per semester). We seek candidates with a strong interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduates at a highly selective liberal arts college.
We particularly seek candidates qualified to teach in our advanced laboratory course. One of the two visitors will teach one semester in our innovative introductory physics for life sciences curriculum. Involving Swarthmore’s highly accomplished undergraduates in summer research is encouraged, though not required; visiting faculty have access to funds to support summer undergraduate stipends and research supplies. Candidates are encouraged to discuss shared research equipment and space with the search committee.
