The Mechanical Engineering Department currently has 43 professors, 4 lecturers, 27 staff, and several postdoctoral researchers and research assistants. There are more than 1200 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students. The department leads both the Mechanical and the Aerospace Engineering programs. The department also contributes to the Biomedical Engineering program. The department members conduct cutting-edge research in close collaboration with industry in the following areas: mechanics, materials, biomedical, aerospace, metallurgy and energy.
