The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Rice University (http://chbe.rice.edu) is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position in biomolecular engineering with broad applications in life science, materials, and energy at the rank of assistant professor. Outstanding candidates at the associate professor level will also be considered. Areas of interest include biochemical engineering, protein engineering, metabolic engineering, bioelectronics, physical biology, synthetic biology, and systems biology.
This is an exciting time to join our department and Rice University. As part of a major Molecular Nanotechnology Initiative, the Department recently added four new faculty members in the areas of soft matter, catalysis, and energy. Moreover, this hiring is aligned with university-wide faculty searches and growth in neuroengineering, physical biology, and synthetic biology (see links below for more information on those searches).

This position will require a PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field. Candidates must have a record of excellence in scientific research and a commitment to teaching and student mentoring at the graduate and undergraduate levels from diverse backgrounds. Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering faculty are required to drive a distinguished, independent, and innovative research program and teach graduate and undergraduate courses.
