This is a tenure track position beginning at the rank of Assistant Professor. A Ph.D. in astronomy or physics is required. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in astronomy, physics, and/or physical science with particular emphasis on the ability to teach introductory level astronomy courses. Excellence in teaching is expected as well as a demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. Preferred qualifications include a demonstrated ability to work effectively in informal and formal teams with individuals from diverse communities and cultures, a distinctive record of accomplishment incorporating diverse perspectives in teaching, scholarship and/or outreach, an ability to contribute to campus diversity efforts and/or demonstrate cultural competence, and experience with a wide variety of teaching methods focused on diverse learners and differentiation.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and includes Radford University’s competitive benefit package.

The Department of Physics is composed of 7 faculty members, 1 teaching post-doc, and averages 9 graduates per year. We are also currently working on two larger grants - the HHMI REALISE grant fo...cused on inclusive excellence, particularly in introductory courses, and the Council of Undergraduate Research Transformations Project to put undergraduate research throughout the curriculum.
