: We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist to join a multi\-disciplinary research team involving analytical chemists, physical chemists, engineers and biologists working to apply microfluidics to chemical and biochemical analysis relevant to bioenergy research at the Joint BioEnergy Institute \(www\.jbei\.org\)\. We are developing cutting\-edge microfluidic devices for assembly of genes, screening of bacterial mutants for evolution of enzymes, high throughput enzyme and metabolite assays, and analysis of biomass constituents such as lignins\. The research will involve work with lab\-on\-a\-chip techniques, microfabrication, cell culture, molecular biology, and adapting molecular biology assays to microfluidic format On any given day, may be called on to do the following: + Microfluidic device design and fabrication+ Implementing synthetic biology protocols in a microfluidic platform+ Interfacing the chip with electrochemical or fluorescence detectors+ Collaborating with molecular biologists, biochemists, and other engineers Required: + PhD in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or a related discipline+ Hands\-on experience in performing molecular biology or biochemical assays in microfluidic devices+ Experience in design and fabrication of microfluidic/MEMS devices+ A strong record of high technical achievement as evidenced by publication in high\-impact scientific journals Desired: + Experience with any of the following: - Biomass/biomass conversion- Fluid dynamics- Automation and control \(e\.g\.
