We are currently looking for an Epitaxial Growth Engineer to join our team. This position is responsible for performing tasks in support of the epitaxial growth mission producing semiconductor device structures. This position will primarily assist the professional staff by independently performing standard characterization of these materials by X-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescence (PL), and electro-chemical capacitance voltage measurements (Polaron), as well as other techniques. This person will also join the team in performing limited maintenance and operation functions of the growth laboratory. Support responsibilities will also include logistics such as purchasing, maintaining supplies inventory, and database entry. Training in all technical operations will be provided. This position will be based in our Jessup, MD facilities.
Essential Job Functionsinclude the following, but are not limited to:
Perform routine characterization of compound semiconductor structures assuring data integrity, communication with related parties, with input into database
Perform limited chemical operations such as acid etching and solvent cleaning
Support operation of group laboratories with supply and material ordering.
Support group’s procurement function, using the ERP system to manage production item inventory
Maintain quality documentation for ISO quality compliance
Perform limited tasks related to operation of semiconductor crystal growth laboratory
2-5 years’ experience preferred
Bachelor's degree in material science, chemistry, physics, or engineering.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Hands on competency with vacuum, gas system, or computer automation a plus
Hands on chemical safety & handling experience desired
Basic electrical & mechanical aptitude required to maintain or troubleshoot simple equipment
Working knowledge of MS Office applications. Database experience a plus.
Physical ability to wear a respirator. SCBA ability preferred
Strong desire to learn compound semiconductor materials and device technology
Mechanical aptitude to perform limited maintenance tasks on vacuum and gas systems
Ability to work independently, manage several simultaneous tasks, and see all tasks to completion
Some familiarity with chemical safety & disposal is desirable.
