: We are seeking a Student Intern \- Technical High School Year Round\. High school level interns are sought to work with our Structural Dynamics and Solid Mechanics finite element code development teams to help test and verify code, conduct research, and develop software and analysis approaches\. These students will create finite element models and will learn to run our solid mechanics and structural dynamics codes on various computing platforms, visualize and post process the results, compare to closed formed solutions or previous solutions\. Students will work as team members and help staff on accomplishing these activities\. Required: You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements: + Attending a local high school+ Enrolled full time, as defined by the school+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.15/4\.0+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer+ Minimum 16 years of age+ U\.S\. citizenship Additional Requirements: These high\-school students should be seniors that have just graduated from high school or will be entering their senior year after the summer\. A strong background in physics or mechanical systems from high school courses is necessary\. Students should have a desire to work with solid mechanics and structural dynamics engineering software, learn how to work in Unix operating systems, and learn how to create finite element models and post process results\. The ability to work in a team environment is required\. This position requires students to have full time participation during the summer within the guidelines of Sandia's Student Internship Program and therefore must have the ability to be present on Sandia premises\. Desired: The successful applicant should have a GPA of 3\.8 or higher and demonstrated interest and accomplishments in science and mathematics\. It is desirable that students have exposure to engineering concepts, experience with the Unix operating system, and experience programming\. Willingness to learn C\+\+ and Python are desirable\. Advanced placement courses in science or college level dual credit in physics or courses related to mechanical or civil engineering are desirable\. Experience with Sierra Mechanics tools and processes is useful\.
