The Department of Physics at Norwich University seeks a lecturer for the academic year 2017-2018 to replace a colleague on sabbatical leave. The appointment is for one academic year only. The successful candidate will teach 12-15 contact hours per week of both lectures and laboratories at the undergraduate level. The Department will make every effort to assign courses so as to maximize the lecturer's research interests and teaching strengths. Although it is not a requirement of the position, the successful candidate will be encouraged to pursue research that includes undergraduate majors.
Presently the Department consists of five Ph.D. faculty members and 22 majors. Introductory lecture courses are limited to an average of 35 students; labs to 16. At the junior/senior level, classes are typically populated with 5 to 7 students. As faculty members, lecturers enjoy funding opportunities to attend conferences and engage in undergraduate research. Current departmental research interests center upon experimental condensed matter physics, experimental high-energy physics, theoretical and observational astrophysics, observational astronomy, and geophysical fluid dynamics.

Preferred candidates will have earned a Ph.D. in an area of physics or astronomy; A.B.D.s are welcome to apply.
