This position will play a critical role in defining and implementing characterization, calibration and test procedures and experiments for a revolutionary radiation therapy system. In addition to participating in system design and development, the Medical Physicist will collaborate with academic institutions on research endeavors to demonstrate the clinical possibilities of PET (Positron Emission Tomography)-guided radiation therapy, which will ideally result in scientific abstracts and papers in leading clinical society meetings and journals. The job duties will include the following: Develop methodology, procedures, policies, and devices for machine and patient quality assurance for radiation therapy system. Define and implement characterization, calibration, test procedures, and experiments. Design and analyze experiments for developing accurate dose calculation and treatment planning algorithms. Model radiation properties of the X-ray beam and beam geometry. Assess clinical applicability and feasibility of the developed dose calculation, dose optimization, and other treatment planning algorithms. Provide shielding and radiation leakage calculations for assurance compliance of the product with the national standards and recommendations form the regulatory and professional organizations. Conduct research and development of new and improved biology guided radiation therapy algorithms, methods, and devices. Research related to PET-guided radiotherapy. Beam-line modeling, simulation, measurements and validation. Modeling of x-ray dose, transmission, scatter and other phenomena with Monte Carlo simulations. System-level simulation of PET-guided radiotherapy. Participate in research endeavors to demonstrate the clinical possibilities of PET-guided radiation therapy, which will ideally result in scientific abstracts and papers in leading clinical society meetings and journals. Define how the RefleXion system will be characterized, calibrated, tested and commissioned. Data analysis and development/implementation of procedures to assess system performance. Refine product requirements. Provide physics support to Engineering and other departments at RefleXion Medical.
