: This postdoctoral position is a temporary position for up to one year, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to five additional years\. The PhD must have been conferred within five years prior to employment\. Individuals in postdoctoral positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance\. : We are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee/Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineer \(or similar\) who has recently earned their Ph\.D\. to collaborate with staff on developing and using computational models of hydrogen behavior\. These models are used to quantitatively assess the risk of hydrogen refueling infrastructure for fuel cell vehicles, and therefore must be valid for cryogenic hydrogen as well as high pressure hydrogen\. The individual will be expected to run and analyze simulations of cryogenic and high\-pressure hydrogen release scenarios with the aim of advancing the fundamental understanding hydrogen dispersion, ignition, and flame behavior, and informing safety codes and standards for hydrogen\. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Update and develop computational models with relevant physics, informed by experimental data\.+ Run computational fluid dynamics \(CFD\) simulations or other hydrogen behavior models\.+ Analyze experimental data and compare results to models\.+ Communicate your findings to colleagues, customers and the larger scientific community through presentations, technical reports and articles suitable for publication in high\-impact journals\. Required: + A PhD in mechanical or aeronautical engineering, or a related field\.+ Experience with CFD modeling\.+ A record of first\-author or co\-authored scientific publications in peer\-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences\.
