The Viterbi School of Engineering’s Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) offers highly qualified students hands-on research experience in a wide variety of engineering disciplines. Working alongside USC’s world-class faculty members, students develop research skills in their field of interest and build important relationships that will further their academic and research careers. This research experience will be invaluable when applying for graduate programs, particularly doctoral studies.

Application Requirements: - Sophomore or Junior-year undergraduate students who are citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or Canadian citizens - Interest in conducting research and pursuing a PhD program - Strong academic background (GPA of 3.5 or higher is recommended) in the fields of engineering, math, or hard science (biology, chemistry, physics) - Application requires transcripts, a resume, statement of purpose and 2 letters of recommendation - On the application, you will be asked to select up to 2 research positions for which you would like to be considered
