The Stewart Blusson Quantum Matter Institute at UBC is seeking PhD-level Scientific Research staff to support its Condensed Matter Theory Group in development of modern computational techniques for strongly correlated many-body systems such as DMRG, QMC and ED. This multi-year Research Associate position will support the Institute’s Principal Investigators whose program is focused on Many-body systems, work collaboratively with the SBQMI Experimentalists, and develop vigorous independent research program aligned with SBQMI interests. The successful candidate will also support the SBQMI research team by contributing to writing and publishing articles in top-tier journals, and mentoring SBQMI students and postdocs who wish to develop advanced numerical skills.

- PhD in Physics, specializing in modern computational many-body techniques, including ideally DMRG, QMC and ED.
- Several years (minimum 3) of postdoctoral or equivalent experience.
- Strong publication record in the field
- Experience leading research projects
- Ability to pursue an independent research program aligned with SBQMI interests
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Experience mentoring students strongly desired
- Recognition as a top scientist in a particular field of research
