Department of Physics
The Department is rebuilding itself and invites applications for two clusters of tenure-track faculty positions at Assistant Professor and higher ranks. The major restructuring will update, expand and strengthen the Department’s two successful focus areas of (a) Advanced Materials/Energy and (b) Biophysics/Complex Systems. New resources will include state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.
The Department’s renewal builds on new infrastructural and internationalisation efforts by the university (including research institutes in mainland China), on the Department’s first-rate research achievements (evidenced by reviews such as Research Assessment Exercise, by start-up companies and by international awards), and on its successful teaching (illustrated by the Hong Kong Team ranking 6th among 72 in the International Physics Olympiad, after being trained in this Department).
The Department will offer restructured BSc (Hons) degree in Physics, with options of Green Energy Science and soon reconfigured Applied Physics; MSc degree in Green Technology (Energy); MPhil (by research); and PhD degree.

The appointees are expected to conduct world-class research and to teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Applicants should have a PhD degree in Physics or relevant disciplines, a proven track record of collaborative research and a strong commitment to teaching. Applicants of senior ranks should have outstanding records of research excellence as well as good teaching experience.
These are tenure-track positions with initial appointment to be made on fixed-term contract of three years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
