: We seek to hire a staff researcher who will develop software for parallel direct numerical simulation \(DNS\) and hybrid DNS and large\-eddy simulation \(LES\) of turbulent reacting flows coupled with fuel spray, soot formation, and thermal radiation over nontrivial geometry on exascale computing platforms\. The staff member will work with a multi\-disciplinary team of computer scientists, applied mathematicians and computational engineers in turbulent reactive flows both within Sandia and with external collaborators at national labs, universities, and high performance computing \(HPC\) vendors\. Research success is expected to result in cutting\-edge DNS and hybrid DNS/LES software treating multi\-physics with complex chemical kinetics and transport models\. The staff must be able to demonstrate scalable, extensible and performance portable software running on exascale heterogeneous architectures\. It is expected that research results will be disseminated through impactful publications in major scientific journals and at relevant computer science conferences\. The staff is expected to actively seek opportunities to extend existing HPC capabilities at the Lab as it pertains to the energy and information sciences missions, and to receive widespread recognition within the international scientific research community, as well as make relevant contributions to the long\-term energy, environmental and high performance computing mission objectives of Sandia and the U\.S\. Department of Energy\. Required: This position requires a PhD in engineering, computational sciences, physical sciences, or mathematics, with expertise in high\-fidelity simulation of turbulent combustion and high\-performance scientific computing\. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a research team are also required\. Desired: A strong background in numerical methods for adaptive mesh refinement and spray, soot, and radiation modeling is desirable\.
