: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee with strong computer science skills to develop and apply electronic structure calculations and atomistic models to predict materials properties\. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Develop and apply predictive electronic structure and atomistic methods where standard first\-principles approaches are known to fail, particularly for materials with d\- and f\-electrons such as rare earths, lanthanides, actinides, and transition metal oxides\. Required: + Ph\.D\. in materials science, physics, chemistry or related engineering discipline \(e\.g\. materials, chemistry, etc\.\), conferred within 5 years\.+ Experience with using, developing, and programming DFT and other electron structure calculation codes\.+ Three years' experience in scientific computer programming for advanced computers\. Desired: + Experience with methods development in electronic structure theory\.+ Experience with using, developing, and programming scientific software, particularly DFT software\.+ Experience with model validation, code verification and modern software quality practices\.+ Knowledge of computational modeling and simulation, especially that related to simulation of materials properties\.+ Strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to interact well with fellow technical workers of diverse technical backgrounds\.+ Willingness to publish and to present cutting edge technical work at technical conferences, and those who have a proven publication track record\.+ Experience with one or more DFT codes, such as VASP, ELK, and Quantum Espresso\.
